Franchising

The specifications for new rail franchises provide an important opportunity to seek improvements that will benefit passengers. Transport Focus therefore places strong emphasis on influencing the franchise replacement programme. Our Passenger Power! agenda has pressed for passenger interests to be placed at the heart of franchises and we are encouraged to see a new emphasis on service quality in recent specifications. We continue to make representations to the Department for Transport (DfT), devolved bodies and bidders about each franchise replacement and direct award.
